Prayer is my first priority. To me, ministry unto the Lord is far more important than ministry unto people. In prayer I am ministering to the Lord. After I have spent much time in prayer. I will be anointed with the Holy Spirit and I will be given wisdom, discernment and power so I may be able to minister to the people. I get up early and I spend one or two hours praying. During the daytime I spend one hour in prayer, before I retire I spend two hours. So usually I spend five hours in prayer each day. Without spending much time in prayer I don’t feel God’s resources of love, joy, and peace in my heart. Without God’s resources I don’t think I can lead the church. — Paul Yonggi Cho

A PRAYER FOR THOSE GROWING OLD
Father help me to accept the lessening of my powers with realism and good humor.
Keep me from self-pity, and remind me that age has not taken away my mission in life, but only altered it.
Grant me a taste for the hidden beauties of creation, a continuing interest in Your world–and mine
Make me more patient with myself, more tolerant of the foibles of others, more outgoing with the timid and shy.
Deepen my faith in Your unfailing truth, strengthen my hope that I will share in the joy of Your Son’s resurrection, expand my love in Your Holy Spirit for all men–with home I am destined to share the fellowship of the blessed for all eternity. Amen.

Oh Lord, Support Us All The Day Long Until The Shadows Lengthen
Oh Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen,

the evening comes, the busy world is hushed,
the fever of life is over, and our work is done.
Then, in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging
and a holy rest and peace at last. Amen.

Prayer of St Francis of Assisi
Lord make us instruments of Thy peace,

Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that we may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive:
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying,
That we are born to eternal life. Amen.
— Saint Francis of Assisi, Roman Catholic Friar and patron saint of animals, birds and the environment (1181 – 1226)

Prayer Of Faith
We trust that beyond absence there is a presence.

That beyond the pain there can be healing.
That beyond the brokeness there can be wholeness.
That beyond the anger there may be peace.
That beyond the hurting there may be forgiveness.
That beyond the silence there may be the word.
That beyond the word there may be understanding.
That through understanding there is love.

Prayer For Wisdom
Almighty God, the giver of wisdom, without whose help resolutions are vain, without whose blessing study is ineffectual; enable me, if it be thy will, to attain such knowledge as may qualify me to direct the doubtful, and instruct the ignorant; to prevent wrongs and terminate contentions; and grant that I may use that knowledge which I shall attain, to thy glory and my own salvation, for Jesus Christ’s sake. When On My Day Of Life
When on my day of life the night is falling,
And in the winds from unsunned spaces blown;
I hear far voices out of darkness calling
My feet to paths unknown.
Thou, who hast made my home a life so pleasant,
Leave not its tenant when its walls decay;
O Love Divine, O Helper ever present,
Be Thou my strength and stay!
Be near me when all else is from me drifting.
Earth, sky, home’s pictures days of shade and shine,
And kindly faces to my own uplifting
The love which answers mine.

I have but Thee, my Father! Let Thy Spirit
Be with me to comfort and uphold;
No gate of pearl, no branch of palm I merit,
No street of shining gold.

Suffice it if–my good and ill unreckoned,
And both forgiven through Thy unbounding grace;
I find myself by hads familiar beckoned
Unto my fitting place.

In Your Hands
Heavenly Father, my life is in Your hands.

Yesterday, today, and forever, I am safe and secure in You.
Lord, please help me to know that You are in control.
Help me to believe You are at work in my life right now,
even when I don’t see it.
Help me to trust in what I do not see,
when what I see is so painful.
Please help me to know You are taking care of my needs.

Lord, thank You for listening to my cries for help.
Thank You for loving me so much.
Help me to believe You and the promises You have made.
Forgive me when I doubt You and Your love.
I believe, Lord. Forgive me for my unbelief.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
